Emily Marie Delafield, 56, was in poor physical and mental health but would not have died if she had not been shocked for more than two minutes by two Green Cove Springs (Florida) officers, according to the autopsy included in a State Attorney's Office report.

Police know electroshock weapons can be used to force compliance. Rapists do too. Last December in Alpharetta, Georgia, an attacker used a stun gun to subdue a young woman before restraining, raping, and kidnapping her. How long before we read of a taser used ...

Trooper Eric Spitzer repeatedly tasered Kevin Patrick in the back while he was handcuffed and helpless, face down in the snow. A jury awarded him $1.8 million, reduced on appeal to only $575,000. A bargain for the state, considering Spitzer's record.

This week an Oregon man was sentenced to 4 years in prison for using a stun gun on his toddler son in January of last year. A quick web search finds similar incidents in 1994 and 2006, one resulting in a death. Electroshock is simply too easy.
